With the latest lockdown, it seems there is no definitive end to the madness we currently face so I thought I’d share a few things I do every day that keep me motivated and sharp…
1. MAKE YOUR BED
Getting out of bed early in the morning and making your bed may not be high up on the agenda with the current situation we find ourselves in but having a little sense of pride from such a minimal task will have a knock-on effect and make you want to do your other “little jobs”.
2. HAVE A SHOWER
Shake that feeling of lethargy by having a quick shower in the morning. It makes you feel not only fresh but refreshed and ready for the day ahead.
3. HAVE YOUR LUNCH
It’s easy to skip a meal when most of us are now working from home but remember, your body and mind needs a break like everyone else so stick the kettle on and leave your phone at your desk or in another room! Your clients don’t work through their lunch and neither should you!
4. GO FOR A WALK
Gyms are closed for the foreseeable and the motivation for keeping ourselves fit and healthy has declined dramatically. Get back on track, just head out the door and go for a nice long walk. Grab your headphones, stick on a podcast, listen to an audiobook or listen to your favourite Spotify playlist. Whatever you do, just enjoy it!
5. ALWAYS BE READY
You are much more productive if you are dressed and ready to go out the door should you need to. You get more done and you will feel a greater sense of accomplishment than if you were to lay about the house in your pyjamas just slowly trying to motivate yourself to do something. Your environment plays a big part in your overall workflow!
That’s just a few things I do on a daily basis that help me stay sharp and focused so try them out and see if any of them help. It may even set the wheels in motion for you to create your own routine
Something to think (talk?) about?
We hear a lot about people struggling with their mental health and even more during lockdown but we don’t really hear much in the way of how to address it. I think the biggest thing about mental health is that it’s OUR OWN so focus on your own first, there’s nothing wrong with that! If you can look after your own mental health, you will only have a positive effect on others that are struggling
